Romeo y Julieta is one of the most renowned brands in the Habanos portfolio. The brand was founded in 1875 by two young entrepreneurs from Asturias, Spain, who arrived in Cuba. The name itself is as famous as the story of the two lovers from Verona, from whom the founders drew their inspiration.
The brand gained international fame in the early years of the 20th century under the management of Don 'Pepin' Rodriguez. Winston Churchill became a fan of the badge and after his visit to Havana in 1946, his name is not only commemorated on a badge, but has also served to describe the most famous size of the badge Romeo Y Julieta Churchill.
In 2006, Habanos, S.A. launched Romeo y Julieta Short Churchills and in 2010, the Romeo and Juliet Wide Churchills, which reinforced the trend among fat ring enthusiasts. In 2015, Romeo y Julieta Gran Reserva Cosecha 2009 and Romeo y Julieta Pirámides Añejados.
